Severity of Sendai Japanese Earthquake
The Sendai Earthquake had lots of devastating effects on Japan and the severity of the disaster was enormous. The Sendai earthquake brought death to 18,000 people and left millions without water or power. Those that were not killed though still struggle though as 2 years on 300,000 people are still living in temporary housing. Many lost their source of work; for example the fishing industry was badly effected and those who worked in this industry were left with no income to use to rebuild with. The nuclear reactor meltdown has left the area evacuated still to this day as it is still has dangerous levels of radiation. The strength and severity of the tsunami is evident, as the wave was able to travel as far inland as 10 km and was at a height of 39 metres. The tsunami managed to reach Chile 17,000 km away but the wave was only at a height of 2 metres. The tsunami scattered many belongings and people and made the clean-up process very hard and difficult for the remaining survivors.
